Who am I? Who am I? I am the guardian of lost souls! I am the powerful, the pleasurable, the indestructible Gio! I’m pretty hot, uh? (ok I stole it from Mulan, but it works ok?) But yeah, my name is Gio, (Gio the Arrogant to some). I am a Daddy Dom to a loving and bratty submissive named MarieStar. In my vanilla life I am a father to grown children who are all in college, father to 3 fur babies (dogs) and grandfather to 2 fur babies (my daughter’s kittens). I love kink and the community and just love talking to people about it, learning new things, and maybe even impart some wisdom to those who are new.

Like many, I didn’t get involved into the community until later in life due to a not so healthy marriage of 16 years. In this marriage I suffered physical and mental abuse. As a man who was raised in a traditional Italian household, talking about being abused was very difficult for me. It wasn’t until a few years after my divorce that I could admit what had happened to me and understand that men CAN be abused, we CAN be victims. One of the main battles I wage is this, that I do not deserve to be excluded from abuse conversations. Doing that to me and other men is victim shaming, just as it is for women, and only further perpetuates toxic masculinity.

It wasn’t until during my divorce in 2010 that I began playing with a much younger girl who asked me to choke her. I did so, badly, but I learned! From there it was all downhill. I soon started sleeping with someone who asked to be tied up. Shortly thereafter I attended my first kink event which was bondage class. At this class I meet many more people like me and I realized it was ok to like these things. I learned tolerance, I learned understanding, I learned compassion. I also learned very quickly that I deeply enjoy Sadism. The rest, as they say, is history!

I launched Consensually Speaking on September 11th 2017. It is a kink-centric, sex-positive podcast that I hope to keep lighthearted and humorous with a variety of guests from kinky friends to presenters, educators, writers, and other kinky podcasters. Along the way I hope to perhaps teach people who are new to the community, as well as learn things for myself along the way. I just enjoy talking about kink in all it’s wonderful facets. So far it has been an amazing experience and I hope to keep it going and reach as many people as I can.

So far this journey has been a complete joy and I look forward to many more years podcasting.
